CURRENTLY

A  reflection on my current interests in artistic explorations

By often withholding explicit detail and embracing abstraction, I have been exploring a visual dialogue that attempts to transcend the boundaries of the image itself.

In certain situations through intentional abstraction and ambiguity viewers must actively engage with each photograph, allowing their unique perspectives and experiences to shape their interpretation. Each viewer becomes a co-creator, infusing the work with their own emotions, memories, and associations.  This collaborative process results in potentially infinite array of readings, each as valid and meaningful as the previous.

I am inspired by a variety of things but there is an artistic movement that currently influences my photography more than others, the evocative qualities of Impressionist art. Drawing from the Impressionist movement's emphasis on conveying the essence of a scene through light, form, and movement, I have been employing photography as a medium to abstract and distill moments into singular frames capturing something in the moment rather than always faithfully reproducing subjects in sharp detail.

I aim to capture the intangible aspects of an experience, the fleeting emotions, atmosphere, and essence of a moment. Through a deliberate blending of techniques such as selective focus, intentional motion blur, and creative composition, each photograph becomes a visual poem, inviting viewers to interpret and immerse themselves in the essence of the captured experience in a single frame.

Whether it's a fleeting moment captured in time or a sweeping landscape bathed in light, my aim is to foster a deep connection between the viewer and the image, inviting them to explore the depths of their imagination and find personal resonance within the frame, not merely capturing moments but  inviting viewers to contemplate the essence of our shared human experiences though their own unique lens or filter.
